Review - Woven Wrap Didymos Lisca Smeraldo sz. 6 - (Germany)

5/5

I always wanted to try this brand's wraps, and few weeks ago, I had the chance to do it.

Didymos is a leading brand in the Babywearing world and the oldest. It was born in 1972 with Erika Hoffman, when she was trying to keep up with her house-chores, raising older kids and containing her baby twins.

45 years do not pass in vain, and Didymos has dedicated to make the best out of each one of them. They have a huge amount of designs, colours, blends, patterns and sizes (among other things). I had the opportunity to try a new addition to the Lisca collection, the model "Smeraldo". A woven wrap of a vibrant green color, mixed with steel blue and anthracite gray. The result is a deep green and a pattern that flirts with your eyes.

I could not believe its softness, it doesn't need to be breaked in, it is extremely soft and manageable right out of the box. The resulting knot is small, and very easy wrapping. The texture doesn't put any resistance, and is so manageable that wrapping becomes easy, very easy.

Generally, the first test I give a woven wrap is with a Kangaroo Back Carry. Despite being a "simple" carry, it gives a lot of information about the fabric.

This wrap has a lot of stretch. I thought it would give in a lot, but it kept fit on the 20-minute walk with my 14-kilo toddler (and with my hands full).

I must say that given its elasticity, I recommend paying attention to the wrap job with heavier babies and single layered carries.

I also tried it with Double Hammock Back Carry (14 kilos), Back Wrap Cross Carry (14 kilos), Double Hammock with Poppins finish (14 kilos), Kangaroo Front Carry (3.7 kilos) Front Wrap Cross Carry (14 kilos) and Back Wrap Cross Carry with a "variant" that I tried to test the wrap, also with 14 kilos.

The variant I tried was avoiding the legpasses and tying the knot in the front going directly over his legs. By doing this, I "eliminated" the help the legpasses provide supporting his weight, and the carry worked quite well. No bouncing, no slippering, no seat-popping :)

Carries with more than one layer were very comfortable. The fabric glides very easily over the first layer, the setting is quick and easy and fits comfortable on your shoulders. If you are new to woven wraps this is an excellent option for the maneuverability it offers.

For a newborn, it would be the perfect wrap, besides not being extremely thick, it is very soft. Ideal for a tiny baby.

Its edges have hems, both sewn to the same side, but one of the edges, has "woven" the brand's name, which makes it easier to distinguish the upper edge from the bottom while you are wrapping your baby or toddler. It has a middle-point mark on both sides, but different from each other, which can also help to differentiate the edges.

I would recommend it for hot weathers and summer carrying too, it's light, it's fresh, it's airy.
